Aviemore is situated in the highlands of Scotland, 130 miles north of Edinburgh and Glasgow and 30 miles south of Inverness. [To see a map of where Aviemore is in Scotland click here ] Aviemore is surrounded by some of the most beuatiful scenery in the UK. The Cairngorm mountains rise to the east, many lochs can be found in the spey valley, and some of the walks and views are simply breathtaking. Skiing
Weather permitting, the skiing can be fantastic. Many top skiers rate some of Caingorm's runs on a par with Alpine runs. The Cairngorm chairlift runs all year round for access to the summit. Skiing is usually available between New Year and Late April. Instruction, as well ski and snowboard hire, is available at many locations.

Eight distilleries surround the Spey Valley and welcome visitors with guided tours and exhibitions.
